Community Blood Center Recognizes Record Breaking Volunteers

DAYTON, OH (April 9, 2010) — Community Blood Center/Community Tissue Services (CBC/CTS) will be hosting a volunteer recognition luncheon on Saturday, April 10 at Carillon Park to honor over 350 volunteers who donated 6,126 hours of community service in 2009. The luncheon will begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday, April 10 with the award presentation beginning at 12:15 p.m.

Twenty volunteers will be receiving the Presidential Service Award for 100 hours of volunteer service while two will receive the Presidential Service Award for 300+ hours of volunteer service.  CEO of CBC/CTS David Smith, M.D. will be presenting these awards.

Volunteer hours in 2009 increased 73% over 2008. The CBC/CTS volunteer program began in 2007. Volunteers at CBC/CTS range in age from 16 – 87 years old and hold a variety of positions including Gift of Life courier, Guest Relations Ambassador and more.
